Saying that the San Francisco 49ers are a little banged up right now may be an understatement, as key players like Jauan Jennings, Brock Purdy, Ricky Pearsall and George Kittle all missed action on Week 5. As Week 6 approaches, many are asking if wide receiver Jauan Jennings might finally be getting off the injured list.
Jennings himself does not think his injury is not that serious, as he was casually saying “nah” when asked if he would miss that week 5 showdown against the Rams. However, what is his injury status really?
What Happened to Jauan Jennings?
Jennings was one of three 49ers wide receivers who missed that game against the LA Rams, which San Francisco somehow won despite all its injury problems. The other injured wide receivers are Ricky Pearsall, out with a minor knee injury, and Jordan Watkins, out with a calf injury, As for Jennings, he is dealing with injuries with his ribs and an ankle.
Jennings got injured in Week 4, during that 21-26 loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars, which saw multiple 49ers players injured. He scored a two-point conversion against the Jaguars but left the game limping, causing some concern and making him miss that Week 5 showdown against the LA Rams.
Jennings has reportedly said that he expects to be back soon.
Is Jauan Jennings Playing Week 6?
For now, his status with the team has not yet been officially updated, with the 49ers Week 6 injury report yet to be released. He has missed practices last week, but no word if he was seen at 49ers practice this week yet. For now, it is assumed that his injuries are not very serious and he could be back soon, maybe even for Week 6.
However, until the official word has been released, his status would still be considered unknown.
Jauan Jennings Fantasy Outlook
As for Fantasy Managers, it would be best for them to just wait and see how things go for Jennings, if they should finally start him, continue to sit him, or finally drop him. However, it should be noted that his injury is not considered that serious, so the time of him being out is expected to be quite short.
Should he return, there is no doubt that he should be started, Managers can bet on veteran Kendrick Bourne to carry the 49ers for the injured Jennings and Pearsall, as he was monstrous against the Rams , with 10 receptions for 142 yards on 11 targets.
