Carolina Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard is coming off a breakout season in 2024, where he had 250 carries for 1195 yards and 10 TDs. This season, he has gotten out to a slower start as the Panthers have struggled to get going as a whole. To make matters worse, Hubbard has struggled with injuries to start the year.
Hubbard did not play in the team’s Week 5 win over Miami, and head coach Dave Canales has labeled him as day-to-day. The Panthers are scheduled to play the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, and Hubbard is listed a questionable on the injury report.
What Happened to Chuba Hubbard?
Chuba Hubbard is dealing with a calf injury that has limited his availability this season. In his most recent game, he had 10 carries for 49 yards. While that was a weak performance, it was not so bad that it indicated that he was injured. However, Hubbard was unable to suit up for the Panthers in Week 5. Now, his status for Week 6 is in question.
Will Chuba Hubbard Play Week 6?
As things stand, it is unclear if Hubbard will be available for the Carolina Panthers in Week 6. He is listed as questionable, and as a result, a final decision will likely not be made until later in the week.
Chuba Hubbard Fantasy Outlook
Chuba Hubbard has not lived up to expectations this year. After a strong season in 2024, he was expected to take another jump, but that has not happened. As a result, his fantasy football viability is limited. To make matters worse, RB Rico Dowdle had a phenomenal game for the Panthers last week against the Dolphins. He had 23 carries for 206 yards and a touchdown. That game alone nearly equaled Hubbard’s yardage in all four games he has played this year combined.

With such a strong performance from Dowdle, there is doubt that Hubbard would get his normal number of carries even if he returns on Sunday. So, most fantasy football players are likely better off finding a better running back to start. There is also a good chance that the coaching staff will continue to use Dowdle as the starter while he is hot. So, if he is available, he could be a good add for this week.
