The Washington Commanders won their Week 5 encounter against the Los Angeles Chargers, despite not having wide receiver Terry McLaurin for the second straight week. McLaurin was injured in Week 3’s victory over the Las Vegas Raiders and has missed the past two games.

The injury trend is worrisome for the Commanders, who also were without quarterback Jayden Daniels in Weeks 3 and 4, and are currently also without wide receiver Noah Brown and guard Sam Cosmi.
Speaking on Monday, head coach Dan Quinn gave the following update regarding the situation of several key offensive players for Washington:
“Yeah, we’re optimistic,” Quinn said. “We’ll have more information as the week goes on to see where they’re at with him [McLaurin], Noah [Brown], Sam Cosmi, and a few other guys that are kind of trending in the right way.
“We’ll make sure we take all the right steps. Just like we do with all the guys. . .But with having an extra day, that never hurts going into it. But as we get a few more days from now, I think I’ll have a better sense of whether it’s able to be done and what it looks like and how they’re responding to it.”
What Happened to Terry McLaurin?
McLaurin suffered a quadriceps injury while trying to dive into the end zone after catching a 56-yard pass. He was ruled out for the following game against the Atlanta Falcons. He was Washington’s leading receiver against the Raiders, with three receptions for 74 yards.
How Long is Terry McLaurin Out?
It hasn’t been confirmed when McLaurin could return, as his injury was described as touch-and-go by the Commanders’ coach, Dan Quinn. Although they’re optimistic about his recovery, it isn’t certain he will be ready for Week 6, although the fact that Washington is playing the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football gives him an extra day of recovery.
He has already been seen working with trainers on the sidelines during some of the Commanders’ games he has missed.
Terry McLaurin Fantasy Outlook
Fantasy players should look for another wide receiver to start in Week 6 over McLaurin. While he has an extra day to recover, keeping him until Monday and then finding out he won’t play at the last minute would limit users to only being able to select players who are also playing on Monday Night Football. Too big of a risk.
