LOOK: Deion Sanders Jr. Shares Colorado Coach Warren Sapp’s Unique Drills Following Disappointing TCU Loss

Former Super Bowl champion Warren Sapp was considered one of the best defensive tackles of his time. Now, he is serving under Deion Sanders as the new linebacker coach for the Colorado Buffaloes, and the NFL great is already passing down his knowledge to the next generation. These include some new drills that he has the defensive line try, as revealed in an Instagram story from Deion Sanders Jr.

Sapp won the Super Bowl during his time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was part of the 1990s and 2000s All-Decade Team. He was also inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013, so he knows what he is doing on the defensive end. The Bucs even retired his number after he retired.

The Buffaloes need his expertise on improving their defense, with Colorado falling to a 2-4 record after that 35-21 loss to TCU on Saturday. Some tweaks in the Buffs’ defense were needed, especially after that fourth quarter collapse that saw the Horned Frogs pull away late in the fourth quarter.

The game was very close, with several ties and lead changes. It was a stalemate until late in the final quarter when TCU’s offense stepped up for the win.

Sanders noted that he also needs to take accountability for that loss, which saw Colorado blow a 14-point lead and get overtaken by TCU. He added that he also needs some leadership on the field, as the Buffaloes struggled without Shedeur Sanders, who has now left for the NFL.

Deion Sanders Says He Was Disappointed After Loss Vs. TCU

After the game, Deion Sanders spoke with reporters and he did not look happy, admitting that he was disappointed with the result:

“Truly disappointed, not lost for words, by any means, addressed the team at the conclusion of the game in the locker room and challenged them for that moment. It’s one thing to lose, then it’s another thing to feel like you beat yourselves when you’re being beaten. We were beaten in Houston,” he said.

“These other games we had opportunity, ample opportunity, to win the games. And for some strange reason, we’re not preparing these young men and equipping them enough to get over that hump, because we find ourselves in the same situational football every week,” he added.

It is now back to the drawing board for Sanders, who admitted that his players were not happy with the result either. Their next opponent will be a bit tougher, as they next take on the No. 22 Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday.
