Miami star quarterback Carson Beck had an eventful offseason. After playing for the Georgia Bulldogs for four seasons, he opted to transfer to the Hurricanes. Part of his decision to transfer came because his then-girlfriend, Hanna Cavinder, was a member of the Hurricanes basketball team. However, they had a very public breakup in the offseason that painted Beck in a bad light.
The Cavinder twins have a large social media following, and as a result, Hanna’s side of the breakup got more attention. Notably, Beck was accused of cheating and being a bad boyfriend. Beck has been mostly silent about their breakup, preferring to focus on football.
In an article posted to ESPN on Wednesday, Beck finally broke his silence on the breakup. He admitted to making mistakes but said that not everything people see in the media is true.
“You make mistakes as a person, but it sucks that you have to go through something like that with someone that you care about, and now it’s all over the Internet,” Carson Beck said. “Half of what you see in the media is true. Half of what you see is not true. So, people pick their side of the story and run with it. The people that know the truth know the truth. But it’s been difficult.”

Carson Beck Believes That Everything He Has Gone Through Over the Past Year Has Led to Positive Change
It has been a challenging year for Carson Beck. He struggled in his final season with Georgia after entering the season with high expectations. He then dealt with the issues in his personal life. However, Beck believes that the struggles he experienced made him a better person and player.
“I’ve been able to connect to myself more, and find who I am, and really do some soul searching,” Carson Beck said. “It’s hard to say that I’m thankful for it all, but I am because I wouldn’t be the person that I am today without all of these things that have happened.”
Beck has had a much stronger start to the season this year. He has completed 82 of 112 passing attempts for 972 yards and seven TDs, while only throwing three interceptions. He appears to be a contender for the Heisman Trophy as the season reaches the halfway point.
I’ve been critical of Carson Beck before, but his September play has made me a believer. pic.twitter.com/8cNsqXZ20W
