Arch Manning’s Texas Longhorns had their offense handed to them in their 27-10 win against UTEP. Now that they are going to face Florida on the road on October 4, their playmaking has come under the scanner and it’s not only limited to the quarterback.
The Longhorns are not doing well enough to be among the leaderboard on several fronts. They are averaging 31.8 points per game in 2025, which ranks them 56th among FBS teams. They pass around 236.0 yards per game, placing them outside top 60 teams in all of college football.
On Thursday, ahead of the Longhorns matchup against the Florida Gators, college football analyst Cole Cubelic blamed their playmakers for being here.
“Now, the offense is where I have the issues with Texas, where they’re ranked, the way people view them, what they kind of seemingly are in the public eye right now, Josh, because the playmakers aren’t making plays,” Cubelic said on Josh Pate’s College Football Show (2:31). “You can try to go blame Arch Manning, and I do think he was pretty amped up in the beginning of the season. Actually thought the last two games he began to calm down just a little bit. Began to find some rhythm, began to find that calm in the pocket that I think a quarterback has to have to truly go be elite or great.”
Cubelic drew reference from last game when UTEP had their best tackling performance of their season. Cubelic added:
“The problem is when you allow UTEP to put out the best tackling performance I’ve seen this season in a single game because your guys were getting put to the ground in one-on-ones, I’m not going to be overly confident that your playmakers are going to do that against a pretty good Florida defense.”

Arch Manning’s Texas Faces A Crucial SEC Test In The Swamp
The Longhorns start their SEC play this weekend when they take on the Florida Gators in the Swamp. While the No. 9 Texas is 3-1, Florida is scrambling for momentum with a 1-3 record. Last season, Texas defeated Florida 49-17.
The game is important for Arch Manning who has blown hot and cold this season so far. His performance in the season opener against Ohio State wasn’t on expected lines but since then he has rebounded with strong performances against San Jose State and Sam Houston.
It remains to be seen if Manning and Texas offense show why they are one of the favorites to win the national championship this season.
