Defending national champions Ohio State, ranked No. 1 in the country, will be taking on the Minnesota Golden Gophers at home on Saturday. They will be coming in as the heavy favorites and will look to keep that No. 1 ranking and their undefeated streak alive, though the Golden Gophers will be aiming for an upset at Ohio Stadium.
Football analyst Cole Cubelic appeared in the “Josh Pate’s College Football Show” podcast ahead of the Saturday showdown, and he says he believes that head coach Ryan Day’s offensive line may not be the best in college football, but they are certainly the nastiest.
“I don’t know if Ohio State has the best offensive line in college football, but I think they got the meanest and the nastiest specifically with what I saw last week against Washington. I mean, it was there was a headcount at the end of that game with what that offensive line and tight ends did to the Washington defense,” he said. (5:10)
“Don’t know if they’re just the overall best, but right now they’re the group I’d probably least like to face of all offensive lines in college football,” he added.
He would then add that he believes Miami is not far behind in terms of having another “nasty” offensive line, with the Hurricanes OL always trying to “decapitate” opponents.
These comments come right after sophomore quarterback Julian Sayin had a phenomenal game against Washington, leading the Buckeyes to a 24-6 win. In his four games as the QB1, Sayin already has 987 passing yards and has thrown 99 passes for 78 completions. These have led to ten touchdowns but also three interceptions.
As for Minnesota, the Golden Gophers are fresh off their 31-28 comeback win over Rutgers, with redshirt sophomore quarterback Drake Lindsey leading the way for the team, with WRs Jalen Smith and Javon Tracey playing well for the squad.
