Brock Purdy Injury Update: What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About 49ers’ QB Ahead of Week 5

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has been dealing with a turf toe injury throughout the season. His injury has resulted in Mac Jones stepping into the starting QB role. The 49ers have performed well in Prudy’s absence, going 2-0 in Jones’ starts. Despite that, the team is still eagerly awaiting Purdy’s return. However, he will not be available for the team’s Thursday night game against the LA Rams.

    What Happened to Brock Purdy?

Brock Purdy suffered a turf toe injury in the 49ers’ Week 1 win over the Seattle Seahawks. He missed Weeks 2 and 3 before returning for Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. On Tuesday, he spoke about how his toe is a little sore, but it is still much better than it was after Week 1.

Now that the 49ers have a quick turnaround from last week to Thursday Night Football, the question is whether Purdy will play again.

Will Brock Purdy Play Week 5?

The 49ers will be without a handful of stars for Thursday night’s matchup against the Jaguars, including Brock Purdy. He had a middling performance in his return, completing 22 of 38 passing attempts for 309 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Under normal circumstances, it would be possible for him to return. However, with the team playing on Thursday this week rather than Sunday, they are being cautious.

Rather than risk Purdy aggravating his injury by making a quick turnaround, he will sit out Thursday’s game. Mac Jones will get the start instead.

    Brock Purdy Fantasy Outlook

The outlook for Brock Purdy fantasy owners this week is not to start him. He is not expected to play on Thursday, so Purdy fantasy owners should consider finding another QB option this week.

However, Purdy’s long-term fantasy outlook is more optimistic. There has been no indication from the coaching staff or Purdy that he aggravated his injury severely in Week 4. As a result, there is a strong chance he will return for the team in Week 6. However, that is unlikely to be confirmed until next week.
