After Bad Bunny was announced as the Super Bowl halftime performer, controversies have followed the NFL. Several have slammed the league for their choice of Super Bowl halftime performer.
The latest to join the controversey is Donald Trump’s adviser Corey Lewandowski. According to Polymarket, Lewandowski said that ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agents would be present at the event and those without legal status would be detained. Lewandowski also criticized the NFL’s decision, calling it “shameful.”
“It’s so shameful they’ve decided to pick somebody who seems to hate America so much to represent them at the Halftime Show,” Lewandowski said.

Bad Bunny was also heavily criticized by commentator Jason Whitlock earlier this week.
“They don’t respect us. They don’t respect fans. They don’t respect Americans,” Whitlock said. “They’re doing a halftime show that 95% of you will have no idea what’s going on, other than you’re being treated to a drag show. And your kids will be watching, and you’ll have to explain to them why a man is dressed like a woman for part of this halftime show. They want to normalize that for you and your kids.”
Bad Bunny Dedicates Opportunity To His “People, Culture And History”
After being announced as the halftime performer, the three-time Grammy Award-winner said he is grateful for those who preceded and laid the path for the likes of him to succeed at global stage.
Bad Bunny will perform at the halftime for Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, Calif., on Feb. 8, 2026. The announcement came during halftime of the “Sunday Night Football” game between the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys.
“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself,” Bad Bunny said. “It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown.
“This is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL. Go and tell your grandmother that we will be the Super Bowl halftime show.”
It remains to be seen how the months leading up to the event drive controversies surrounding the league.
