Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers has backed up fellow WNBA standout and UConn Huskies alumna, Napheesa Collier, for a recent statement she made. On Tuesday, Sept. 30, Minnesota Lynx star Collier went viral as she made serious allegations against WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert during her 2025 WNBA season exit interview. Collier focused on conversations she previously had with Engelbert about low WNBA salaries and revenue.
This prompted Bueckers to repost a carousel post that Collier uploaded on her Instagram account in July. Bueckers went with a photo of both of them during the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game, as they can be seen smiling during the broadcast on the bench. Bueckers also dropped a two-word reaction to show her support for Collier.
“Queen Phee,” Bueckers captioned with a crown emoji.

Right before the 2025 All-Star Game, the Hopkins, Minnesota, native and Collier were among the WNBA standouts who wore black shirts that read, “Pay us what you owe us.” This initiative by some of the league’s best players was a direct response to their salaries being insufficient for the kind of draw they bring to the WNBA.
It seems like this is still a growing issue, evidenced by Collier’s recent statement. Nevertheless, both Bueckers and Collier are two of the best players in the league, meaning that their allegiances hold a lot of weight.
Bueckers was recently crowned the 2025 WNBA Rookie of the Year after she put up around 19.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 1.6 steals a game for coach Chris Koclanes’ Wings. For Collier, she and the Lynx finished the year with a record of 34-10 in the regular season before they were eliminated in the 2025 WNBA semifinals.

Napheesa Collier Includes Paige Bueckers’ Name While Confronting Cathy Engelbert
In Napheesa Collier’s now-viral statement, she revealed that she once asked WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert how she was planning to fix the salaries of young standouts like Paige Bueckers.
Engelbert said it is already enough and that the top players should be grateful to the league, according to Collier.
“ I also asked how she planned to fix the fact that players like Caitlin, Angel, and Paige, who are clearly driving massive revenue for the league, and are making so little for their first four years. Her response was, ‘Caitlin should be grateful she makes 16 million off the court because without the platform that the WNBA gives her, she wouldn’t make anything,'” Collier said.
