“That’s Why No One Should Defend Her”: Fans Slam Caitlin Clark After Napheesa Collier’s Defense Draws No Reaction

Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark has reacted to a statement made by fellow WNBA star Napheesa Collier. On Tuesday, Sept. 30, Minnesota Lynx guard Collier read out a statement at a press conference, calling out WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert. Collier revealed her conversations with the commissioner.

In one conversation, according to Collier, she asked Engelbert about the low salaries being given to the likes of Clark. Engelbert said Clark should be grateful for the endorsements she is getting as a WNBA star and that she relies solely on the league. Clark has now reacted through @brwsports on Instagram, as she asserted neutrality on the issue.

“No comment,” Clark was quoted as saying.

Women’s basketball fans slammed Clark for being neutral when asked about Collier’s statement.

“Typical answer from her. That’s why no one should defend her. Phee is too good of a human,” one fan wrote.

“I like Phee shaking the table like this. Calling out the leadership at the top creates change, for the better, for the players in the league,” another fan said.

“Shoutout to Queen Phee for speaking up for the players that either refuse to speak up for themselves or do not have the platform to be heard 👑🗣,” another user commented with a couple of emojis.

“I think y’all don’t understand that her silence does not mean she agrees,” a user claimed.

Other users in the comments section are just not too keen on a player of Clark’s stature staying silent through it all.

“This is the problem I have with CC, she doesn’t speak up when she needs to. This is a NEED TO situation,” one fan asserted.

“Caitlin is always silent unless she is badgering a ref,” another user shared.

“Is anyone surprised? 😭😭😭 she cares about herself and it continues to show in her ‘silence,'” a user pointed out with crying emojis.

Collier and the Lynx were recently bounced out of the 2025 WNBA playoffs after they were defeated in Game 4 of the semifinals, 86-81, by the Phoenix Mercury, which put an end to their championship aspirations. For Clark, she was able to play only 11 games in her second-year campaign as she suffered a season-ending groin injury.

Caitlin Clark Was Part Of The 2025 WNBA All-Star Game Movement

Despite her neutrality on Napheesa Collier’s statement about Cathy Engelbert and low WNBA salaries, Caitlin Clark was a part of the viral movement during the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game.

During warmups before the annual exhibition game, Clark was one of the players who wore a black shirt that read, “Pay us what you owe us,” in an act to call out the league to increase players’ salaries.
