Arch Manning’s Texas Longhorns were among the most hyped-up teams and the favorite to win the national championship heading into the 2025 college football season.
However, due to Manning’s underwhelming performance so far in the season, many analysts have given up hope on their natty dreams this year, especially after the Longhorns struggled to win by a massive margin against UTEP.
Talking about the possibility, longtime Longhorns fan Glen Powell said at the NFL Live that he believes if Texas wins the national championship this year, then the program is going to go on a “dynasty run,” drawing flak from fans.

“Texas just like Penn State is one of those teams I can never take seriously in the big games,” one fan commented.
“Have we all been watching the same Arch Manning? Where his best quality football speaking is his name?” another fan took a shot at Texas’ QB,” a fan posted.
“Texas is not winning a natty this year. Arch has a QBR of 57.2!!! What are we talking about?” another fan commented.
“He looked good against San Houston. The first team he didn’t struggle against and all of the sudden there’s talk of a Natty in Austin? Come back after you beat Oklahoma and go into Athens and win cause they didn’t look good in the Shoe,” another fan wrote.
“Clearly he doesn’t watch college football enough, never make predictions especially this early in the season,” a fan wrote.
Great actor, amazing skills. Can deliver any line with conviction. Case in point, he said this without even laughing. Amazing conviction, another added.

Texas HC Steve Sarkisian Defends Arch Manning Amid Criticism From Fans
During a weekly press conference held on Monday, Steve Sarkisian talked about how the current players go through so much criticism and how the expectations from them are at an all-time high.
Sarkisian said looking around the country at the high-profile players, he doesn’t know if any of them are living up to what everybody said they were supposed to be, but we’re in the era where players are pedestalized quickly. Certainly, it was what happened with Arch Manning as he became the Heisman Trophy favorite in the offseason without ever starting a game.
“College football players are getting critiqued and criticized more now than they ever have in the past, too, and so this is a different era that we’re in.”
Sarkisian further said the coaches got to do a great job and try to protect the players as they are not pros yet.
