Commentator Jason Whitlock is not liking it one bit after global superstar Bad Bunny was announced as the headliner for the Super Bowl LX halftime show. The NFL showcase will take place on Feb. 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
Whitlock expressed his frustration on his show about the announcement, accusing the league of using the biggest stage in American sports to push political and cultural agendas.
“They don’t respect us. They don’t respect fans. They don’t respect Americans,” Whitlock said. “They’re doing a halftime show that 95% of you will have no idea what’s going on, other than you’re being treated to a drag show. And your kids will be watching, and you’ll have to explain to them why a man is dressed like a woman for part of this halftime show. They want to normalize that for you and your kids.” (0:01)
Referencing Bad Bunny’s past comments about ICE, Whitlock claimed that the halftime show would effectively become an “anti-ICE rally.”
“Well, we’re going to go Ice Ice Baby on you,’” Whitlock added. “This is their pro-open borders, pro-globalism rally that they’re having with the Super Bowl.” (2:01)
Whitlock wrapped up his comments, saying the league has not had anyone take the grandest stage since 2019. Whitlock said:
“You can’t get a country music star on at halftime. You can’t get anybody pro-America on at halftime. This has been going on since before 2019 and Jay-Z’s takeover—but it’s accelerated since Jay-Z took over.” (8:22)
“Everything the NFL supports — from the slogans on the field to the Super Bowl halftime show is anti-American and anti-Jesus Christ. And we just keep taking it, because we love to gamble. We love gambling more than we fear Jesus. And that has to stop. And yes, I’m talking to myself, but I’m also talking to all of us. They’re going to put on a drag show at halftime of the Super Bowl,” he added. (8:42)
Bad Bunny on Being Named Super Bowl Halftime Performer
NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation first broke the news of the upcoming halftime performer during a “Sunday Night Football” broadcast. The Super Bowl halftime performance will be produced by DPS, with Roc Nation and Jesse Collins serving as executive producers and Hamish Hamilton directing.
Upon the development, Bad Bunny, whose full name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, dedicated his upcoming performance to his culture, heritage and ancestral roots.
“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW del Super Bowl,” Bad Bunny said.
This will be Bad Bunny’s first time headlining the Super Bowl halftime show. He previously made a guest appearance during the 2020 show with Shakira and Jennifer Lopez.
