“No Faith in His Own Son”: Fans React As LeBron James Makes Judgment on Bryce James’ NBA Future

LA Lakers superstar LeBron James recently weighed in on his future in the league and that of his son, Bryce James. On Monday, Sept. 29, @NBACentral on X/Twitter shared a quote from LeBron’s recent interview with Athlon Sports. The four-time NBA champion was asked about the possibility of playing alongside his son, Bryce.

LeBron James said he is not waiting for Bryce James to be called up to the NBA. LeBron has already experienced what it feels like to play with one of his sons, Bronny, and once expressed his desire to play with both Bryce and Bronny.

Basketball fans online reacted to LeBron James’ statement, speculating that he may not believe in Bryce James’ capabilities to make it into the league.

“No faith in his own son,” one user claimed.

“He know Bryce ain’t going to the league 😂,” another user said with a laughing emoji.

“‘Translation: I can’t blackmail the Lakers again to draft my other son,'” another fan wrote.

“Lol, he learned his lesson forcing Bronny into the league when staying in college longer would’ve been way more beneficial for his long-term NBA success smh,” a user pointed out.

Other users all over X/Twitter offered their takes on what LeBron James should and could do for his and his family’s future.

“The goal is to help Bronny develop. Bryce might need a couple years in college to develop,” one fan shared.

“Yeah we not waiting on Bryce, his time will come and if we’re still in the league by then, then that’s a plus, but the main focus is championships until we’re done,” another fan explained.

“Focus stays on the present grind, not future timelines,” a fan posted.

LeBron James is entering his 23rd season in the NBA in the upcoming 2025-26 season with coach JJ Redick’s Lakers. In the 2024-25 season, they finished with an overall record of 50-32 and were the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference. For his son, Bryce, he will be uncorking his first season of college basketball with coach Tommy Lloyd’s Wildcats in the upcoming campaign.

LeBron James Doesn’t Know If His Playing Timeline Matches That Of Bryce

During the same interview with Mark Medina of Athlon Sports, LeBron James said he is unsure about how his playing career fits in with that of Bryce James.

There are no assurances for either LeBron James’ renewed contract with the LA Lakers in the coming year or Bryce James getting drafted into the league next year.

“I’m not waiting on Bryce. I don’t know what his timeline is. He’s his own young man now. He’s down in Tucson. We’ll see what happens this year or next year. But he has his own timeline. I got my timeline. And I don’t know if they quite match up,” James was quoted as saying.
