Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman could be on his last legs with the Razorbacks. While he has not been fired yet, his start to the season has caused many fans to call for his job. That, added to the fact that Pittman has not had a perfect tenure with the team, could lead to his firing. While nothing has been announced, it is the part of the season where coaches start to get fired.

Here is a look at five candidates to replace Sam Pittman if he is fired.

Top 5 Sam Pittman Replacement Candidates if the Razorbacks Fire Him

    Rhett Lashlee

Rhett Lashlee is the head coach of the SMU Mustangs and led the team to back-to-back 11-win seasons in 2023 and 2024. In the first year of the 12-team playoff format, he led his Mustangs to an appearance last year.

Lashlee will likely be a popular candidate for any team looking to sign a new head coach. However, Arkansas has an advantage. Lashlee played for the Razorbacks from 2002 to 2004 as the team’s quarterback. He was also a graduate assistant for the team in 2006. The only obstacle to signing him is a significant financial commitment because of his recent extension with SMU.

    Ryan Silverfield

Memphis head coach Ryan Silverfield is another coach who could be in the conversation. His Tigers pulled off a win over Arkansas in Week 4, and he has his squad off to a 4-0 start. He has had the Tigers playing at a high level for the past two seasons and could be looking for an opportunity in a more competitive conference.

    Tyson Helton

Western Kentucky head coach Tyson Helton is an option. His offensive mind has helped the Hilltoppers remain competitive in Conference USA since the start of his tenure in 2019. He would be an intriguing option for the Razorbacks.

    Travis Williams

If the Razorbacks struggle to find an outside candidate during the season, Travis Williams could step in as the interim head coach. He is the team’s current defensive coordinator.

    Bill Clark

Bill Clark is a bit of an off-the-board pick, having not coached since 2021. However, he rebuilt the Blazers after the program shut down and built a strong culture in a lower-tier program. If Arkansas can convince him to come back to coaching, he would be a good option.
