Jaxson Dart Injury Update: Latest on Ole Miss QB’s Status

Dart left Ole Miss’ Week 11 contest against Georgia late in the third quarter with an apparent injury.

On a scramble to the right, Dart sped toward the sideline in an attempt to pick up the first down. He finished forward through contact but slammed into the ground upon meeting defenders and losing control of his momentum.

Dart appeared to make hard contact with a defender’s helmet and then with the ground on his left side and lay on the ground for some time after the play while being tended to by trainers.

After a moment, Dart was helped to his feet and walked off the field slowly with the assistance of trainers. He was then led into the medical tent for further evaluation and did not return during the current drive.

Later, it was reported that Dart had left for the locker room, favoring his left shoulder. In his place, Ole Miss will have veteran quarterback Spencer Sanders — a transfer addition from Oklahoma State.

As of now, Dart’s long-term status for the game is unclear. We will update this article when more information is made available.

Dart has quietly been one of the better and more efficient SEC quarterbacks so far in 2023. He runs Lane Kiffin’s offense well, and has benefitted from having a weapons core that includes Jordan Watkins, Dayton Wade, and 2024 NFL Draft prospect Tre Harris.

Heading into Ole Miss’ Week 11 clash with the Bulldogs, Dart had completed 160 of 244 pass attempts — good for 65.6% completion — for 2,467 yards, 16 touchdowns, and just four interceptions.

Along with his passing numbers, Dart also boasts 334 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground.
