Chuba Hubbard Injury Update: What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About Panthers’ RB Ahead of Week 4

Carolina Panthers running back Chubba Hubbard has drawn eyeballs of fantasy owners to his injury report. The Panthers are scheduled to face the New England Patriots on Sunday.

Ahead of this matchup, fantasy owners want to know the status of Hubbard in this matchup.

    What Happened To Chuba Hubbard?

The running back was absent from Carolina’s Wednesday practice reports. The following day he was added to the injury report with a calf issue. He was a limited participant in practice.

Since Chuba Hubbard wasn’t designated earlier this week it seems the injury might have occurred during practice or a post-practice evaluation. Friday’s session will be crucial before Panthers decide on Hubbard’s status for Sunday’s game.

Is Chuba Hubbard Playing This Week?

As of now, Chuba Hubbard’s availability is uncertain. Given he was a limited participant in Thursday’s session, it seems the injury is of minor nature.

If he’s a no-show in Friday’s practice, his chances of being inactive for Sunday’s game rises. Assuming that would happen, Rico Dowdle will step in as the lead back while Trevor Etienne will also be getting some carries.

Until the final injury report comes around, fantasy owners should treat Hubbard as “questionable.”

Apart from Hubbard, Panthers’ injury report also include wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan (calf), who was also a limited participant on Thursday after being held out on Wednesday. Defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton (hamstring) was also a limited participant.

Meanwhile, D.J. Wonnum (hip), Ja’Tavion Sanders (ankle), Xavier Legette (hamstring), and Patrick Jones II (hamstring), who all missed Wednesday’s practise, missed Thursday’s practice as well.

    Chuba Hubbard Fantasy Outlook

While there is some injury risk with his calf strain, if he does play, he is projected to earn 12.2 fantasy points this week. That’s because the Patriots are good in their defense against the run play. In that scenario, Hubbard’s pass-catching game will be more important for the team.

Hubbard is averaging 17.6 touches per game and around 80.7 total yards. He ranks around RB11 in fantasy points per game. Fantasy owners should monitor Hubbard’s injury and if negative, making a move for Rico Dowdle might be a way forward.
