Memphis vs. Florida Atlantic: Key Players to Watch

The Memphis Tigers have performed well to start the season. They have won their first four games and look like they could be a contender in their conference. However, the team has been heavily reliant on quarterback Brendon Lewis to make plays. Lewis has completed 70 of his 105 passing attempts for 807 yards and three TDs. While that is not many passing TDs, he is also the team’s second-leading rusher with 293 yards and four TDs on 48 carries. Memphis will need its QB to continue to perform to have success.

Similarly, Florida Atlantic will need a big performance out of QB Caden Veltkamp. He has put up strong passing numbers, completing 90 of 139 passing attempts for 880 yards and eight TDs. His stats look good, especially when you consider the Owls have only played three games. However, he has also thrown seven interceptions. That will need to change for the Owls to pull off the upset here.

    Memphis vs. Florida Atlantic Predictions

While we would love to pick the underdog in this game, we cannot bring ourselves to do it. Florida Atlantic has some things to like, but Memphis is the more complete team and has been more consistent this season. For the Owls to be successful, QB Caden Veltkamp needs to clean up his game and stop causing turnovers.

While we think the Owls could improve as the season goes on, we think Memphis comes out with a win here. The Tigers will likely start the season 5-0 and as one of the top contenders in the AAC.
