Colin Cowherd Minces No Words While Making a Case for Jimmy Kimmel Following Suspension Over Charlie Kirk Remarks

Late-night talk show host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel was suspended following his comments in the aftermath of political commentator and podcaster Charlie Kirk’s assassination. The comments Kimmel made had to do with Donald Trump and the MAGA movement trying to characterize Kirk’s killer as “anything other than one of them.”

Kimmel’s suspension resulted in huge backlash. It was brought up as something that goes against the free speech movement, something that has been a big talking point in Donald Trump’s politics.

Kimmel’s suspension was lifted, and he returned to the air on Tuesday night. Sports analysts Colin Cowherd and Danny Parkins spoke about their opinions on Kimmel’s return and the suspension as a whole on Thursday morning.

“I think it sets a bad precedent,” Colin Cowherd said. “I don’t care what somebody says, how offended you are. Don’t take comedians off the air. I thought Bob Iger probably sat down and went, this is my state. Screw Nexstar. Why do you think, ultimately, Bob Iger just said, ‘Yeah, we’re just gonna put him back on.'”

Danny Parkins then gave his opinion on the situation.

“First of all, because it was the right thing to do,” Danny Parkins said. “This was a pretty clear-cut freedom of speech issue. Everyone from Ted Cruz and Ben Shapiro and George Clooney and Meryl Streep and Joe Rogan, everyone came out against this. Jimmy Kimmel in Hollywood, as I understand it, has pretty universal approval. Everyone wants to hang with Jimmy Kimmel.”

Jimmy Kimmel Speaks About His Suspension in His Return to TV

In his return to television after a week-long suspension, Jimmy Kimmel gave an emotional speech to his viewers.

“This show is not important,” Jimmy Kimmel said. “What’s important is that we live in a country that allows us to have a show like this.”

Kimmel then spoke about how many comedians in other countries know how lucky Americans are to be able to speak freely. He got emotional as he continued to speak, fighting back tears as he thanked everyone who supported him during his suspension.

The general sentiment from the public seems to be that they are happy that Kimmel has returned to the air. His suspension seemed to have upset people on both sides of the political aisle.
