The world was shocked earlier in September when political commentator and podcaster Charlie Kirk was shot and killed at one of his public speaking events. Kirk’s death has led to a huge wave of commentary around the state of gun control in the United States, as well as other political discussions. Many organizations have offered their support for Kirk’s family with tributes, including some NFL teams.
However, not everyone is as open to the public support that Kirk has received following his death. He was a divisive figure, and as a result, many people do not like that he is being viewed as a martyr. Notably, the Donald Trump administration has spoken often about Kirk’s death and its impact.
On Wednesday, it was announced that legislation is being filed in the U.S. House to place Charlie Kirk on 400,000 silver coins in 2026.
“BREAKING: Legislation is being filed in the U.S. House to place CHARLIE KIRK on 400,000 silver dollar coins in 2026. These coins would have “well done, good and faithful servant” on one side, and Charlie’s face on the other side. They would be considered legal tender, and have his full name “Charles James Kirk,” per Fox. It’s being filed by Reps. Abraham Hamadeh and August Pfluger. Treasury Secretary SCOTT BESSENT and President Trump would choose the coin’s final design.”

While some people support this move, former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown does not agree. He spoke about how it is stupid that the government is focused on this rather than releasing the Jeffrey Epstein files.
“They’re doing literally the dumbest sh*t you can possibly think of just to avoid releasing the Epstein files,” Antonio Brown wrote.

Several NFL Teams Pay Tribute To Charlie Kirk
On Thursday Night Football in Week 3, the Buffalo Bills paid tribute to Charlie Kirk with a short video on the Jumbotron. They became the 10th NFL team to honor Kirk, with nine others paying tribute in Week 2 in the immediate aftermath of his death.
The teams that honored Kirk before the Bills were the Green Bay Packers, New York Jets, Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans, and Arizona Cardinals. The NFL is allowing teams to make their own decision as to whether they honor Kirk.
