Much to the allure of quarterback Shedeur Sanders, the Cleveland Browns re-signed undrafted free agent wide receiver Luke Floriea to their practice squad. Sanders and Floriea shared a good chemistry during the preseason. The quarterback connected Floriea on a 30-yard reception in the preseason game against the Carolina Panthers.
In the preseason, Floriea suffered a hamstring strain because of which the Browns decided to waive him. Now the Browns has brought him back to the practice squad.
The move has Sanders singing praise for the wideout. In a locker-room interview, he said:
“Our connection is really really good,” Shedeur said. “He spent the summer with me of course. But, a lot of other guys have has even out there with us, the connection is crazy. Y’all not able to go out to practice and see it though. That’s the only thing. “But it’s okay though, it’s okay, it’s okay. But take my word for it. I’m trustworthy. Ay, we’re ready. We’re ready.”

A return to the practice squad doesn’t mean he’ll be elevated to the active roster but it does bring the Kent State product one step closer to make a mark in the 2025 NFL season. Before signing with the Browns, Floriea played five seasons in college at Kent State, amassing 100 receptions for 1,321 yards and 12 touchdowns across 48 games.

Deion Sanders Optimistic About Shedeur Sanders Getting An Opportunity To Play In NFL
There is an uncertainty regarding Shedeur Sanders getting an opportunity to appear in NFL game this season. Former Super Bowl champion Joe Flacco is the Browns starting quarterback. Meanwhile, Dillon Gabriel, who was picked two rounds before Sanders’ fifth round selection in the 2025 NFL draft, is the QB2. Sanders is a third string quarterback, making the possibility of him starting close to unlikely.
Despite that, Sanders’ father and Hall of Famer Deion Sanders believes that Sanders will get his shot this season. During his recent appearance on the New Heights podcast, Coach Prime said:
“You got to be ready when it’s time, but when it’s time, you’re going to know. And it’s coming up. I got a prediction, I ain’t telling nobody. I got a feeling when it’s going to go down. But it’s going to go down this year. He’s going to get a shot.”
