Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy shared his thoughts on the return of Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Just days after pulling the show off the air over controversial remarks regarding Charlie Kirk’s assassination, the Walt Disney Company announced its return on Monday.
On Monday, Disney issued the following statement:
“Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country. It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive. We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”
Portnoy reshared the screenshot of the above statement and shared his thoughts regarding the controversy. He wrote on X:
“I got no problem with how Disney handled any of this Kimmel stuff. No prob with the suspension and no prob bringing him back. Both decisions were made with what Disney thought was in best interest of business. Nothing less, nothing more. Never was a free speech issue to me.”

What Jimmy Kimmel Said Regarding Charlie Kirk’s Assassination That Led to Suspension?
On Sept. 15, Jimmy Kimmel delivered a controversial monologue, reacting to Charlie Kirk’s tragic death. Kirk, an American right-wing political activist, was shot and killed at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10.
Kimmel took shots at ‘MAGA gang,’ saying:
“The MAGA gang [is] desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”
The late-night show host also called out US President Donald Trump on how he expressed grief, saying:
“This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he calls a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish.”
He accused conservative figures of trying to use the tragedy for political gain.
After Kimmel’s comments were aired, several ABC affiliates suspended local broadcasts of Jimmy Kimmel Live! FCC’s Chair, Brendan Carr, reportedly issued warnings about potential regulatory consequences if ABC and its affiliates did not act.
In the wake of severe backlash from right-wing political figures, ABC and Disney decided to suspend Jimmy Kimmel Live! indefinitely on Wednesday. Now it appears the show has returned.
