Calls Mount From Fans To ‘Bench’ DJ Lagway As Carson Beck’s Miami Shuts Down Florida Star

The Florida Gators’ matchup against the Hurricanes is not going as planned, and the focus once again is on quarterback DJ Lagway. The Gators went into the locker room at halftime, trailing 0-13, with the offense unable to find any rhythm against a tough Hurricanes defense.

Lagway came into this game already under fire for his turnovers, with six interceptions through three weeks. He had five interceptions against LSU alone, registering one of the worst performances in the program’s history.

Fans expected a sharper outing against Carson Beck’s Miami, but the first half only added more frustration. Now, they want Lagway to be benched, and they’re no longer holding back their opinions.

“At some point you bench DJ Lagway,” a fan wrote.

“Lagway needs to see a bench,” a fan wrote.

“Put Lagway on the bench. Hos body language stinks,” a fan wrote.

“#Firebillynapier and bench lagway too,” a fan wrote.

“Great opening drive florida lmao. Put lagway on the bench,” a fan wrote.

Florida’s offense stalled on multiple drives, and Lagway struggled to push the ball down the field against consistent pressure. Miami, on the other hand, looked in control from the start. Beck kept the offense moving, and the Hurricanes capitalized on their chances to put points on the board.

The Gators’ lack of production has sparked louder calls from fans for Lagway to be benched. Patience is wearing thin, and the uproar for a change has picked up as the Florida Gators continue to slide in big games.

With the team still searching for answers, all eyes are on whether Billy Napier will stay with his young signal-caller or look elsewhere for a spark.

DJ Lagway Wasn’t Happy with His Performance Against LSU

In the Week 3 matchup against LSU, the Gators put up arguably their worst performance of the season. Offensively, they were at their worst, which has now been overtaken by their Week 4 performance. Defensively, they couldn’t stop the Tigers in the second and third quarters, which led to a 10-20 loss.

After the loss, Lagway reflected on his performance. The 20-year-old quarterback said it was the worst performance of his career.

“I’ve never had a performance like that in my life, so it’s kind of hard to process it,” Lagway said, as per CBS Sports. “But, at the end of the day, it’s all about, how do you bounce back and how do you respond? And I’m planning on doing so.”

This week was expected to be Lagway’s redemption. But considering how the Gators have performed until halftime, the wait is going to last longer.
