In one of the biggest upsets of the season so far, the Tulsa Golden Hurricane defeated the Oklahoma State Cowboys in a thrilling 19-12 victory on Friday. The Cowboys now fall to 1-2 for the season and many are wondering if head coach Mike Gundy will be getting fired.

Gundy has been with Oklahoma State for over 20 years and had once been one of the most beloved figures for the team. However, fans have began souring on him during the 2024 season when the Cowboys finished with a 3-9 record just a year after their 10-4 record in 2023 where they won the Texas Bowl. Despite winning their season opener this season, fans quickly asked for him to be fired after that 69-3 loss to Oregon.
This Was the First Time That Tulsa Had Beaten Oklahoma State Since 1998
Mike Gundy has had a winning record against Tulsa ever since he took over as head coach, with Tulsa not being able to beat OSU since 1998. The Golden Hurricanes also have not been able to win against OSU at Stillwater since 1958, making this latest defeat for the Cowboys sting even more.
To make things worse for Gundy, the Golden Hurricanes had been in control throughout the game. Though the Cowboys did try to mount a furious nine-point late surge in the fourth quarter, it was not enough.
