The South Carolina Gamecocks face a key game in Week 4, against the No. 23 Missouri Tigers. There are some questions about the availability of quarterback LaNorris Sellers for the encounter, after he exited the 31-7 defeat to Vanderbilt with a concussion shortly before halftime. This was clearly one of Sellers’s worst halves, throwing for just 148 yards with no touchdowns and one interception.
There has been no confirmation of the player’s status for the Saturday night game, with him being listed as questionable. Speaking to the press, South Carolina’s head coach, Shane Beamer, has only said he’s “optimistic” about the quarterback’s chances of playing against Mizzou.

The latest update has come from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, who on Wednesday tweeted that there are positive signs of availability and that Sellers has been actively participating in this week’s practices with the Gamecocks.
Through three weeks of college football, LaNorris Sellers has thrown for 431 yards, with two touchdowns and an interception. He hasn’t been the same player he was towards the latter part of last season, having a QBR of 41.5, which ranks 105th among signal-callers in the nation. He has only recorded 45 rushing yards, with one touchdown.

South Carolina’s Shane Beamer On Roughing The Passer Calls in The Game Against Vanderbilt
The Gamecocks come from a very difficult game against Vanderbilt, in which they were blown out of the water 31-7. Even though there was a clear difference in the quality of play, coach Shane Beamer still felt like South Carolina was hard done by some roughing the passer calls from the officials.
He seemed to care so much about the matter that he reached out to the SEC to log a formal complaint. He spoke about it in midweek:
“We got a response from them and then they actually reached out to me,” Beamer said. “They initiated a comment yesterday morning, which I appreciate John McDaid, the head of officials, doing. Don’t know how much I can say about all of them. I think they felt like the two roughing the passers were legitimate calls and warranted. I understand where they’re coming from.”
South Carolina was indeed more heavily penalized than Vanderbilt, with eight penalties and 85 lost yards. The Commodores had roughly half that. However, as the final score shows, the difference in quality between the teams was much bigger than a discussion about how penalties were handed out.
