Syracuse football is dealing with a growing problem. Rival programs are reportedly reaching out to Orange players, hoping to lure them away through the transfer portal. Head coach Fran Brown has had enough.
He addressed the issue directly this week, sending a fiery message to any team attempting to tamper with his roster. On ‘I AM ATHLETE’ with Darien Rencher, Brown warned every rival team trying to poach his players that he would come after them.
“I don’t even care bruh,” Brown said. “Dude’s be trying to push up on my wife. She’s bad. It’s just the game it’s what they do. I don’t care, but don’t let me find out and then I’ll see you. Cause I ain’t no b****.”

Coach Brown said he already called a “couple of dudes” who told him not to call again, but he isn’t going to be stopped by anyone. Brown’s comments show how serious the situation has become. He pointed out that other schools are crossing the line by contacting Syracuse players who have not declared their intent to transfer.
He also made it known that his response will be aggressive if the practice continues. The direct language used by Brown stood out. Most coaches speak cautiously when discussing tampering. Brown chose to deliver a blunt warning instead.
His approach signals that Syracuse will fight to keep its roster intact. Tampering through the transfer portal has become one of the most controversial issues in college football. Players now have the freedom to move quickly, while coaches scramble to hold rosters together each offseason.

Fran Brown’s Coaching Methods Have Been Questioned
After Syracuse’s 27–20 overtime win over UConn on Sept. 6, head coach Fran Brown had his players run wind sprints on the field. The move drew backlash across the football world. Former Super Bowl coach Jon Gruden criticized the decision, calling it embarrassing for the players and comparing it to past extreme tactics he had witnessed.
“I have not (seen this), but I have seen Howard Schnellenberger at Louisville, when my brother was the quarterback, have a one in the morning scrimmage in the pouring rain after they got beat by Memphis,” he SAID on Wake Up Barstool.

Former All-Pro tight end Greg Olsen agreed, adding that from his perspective, coaching youth football, there are better ways to grab players’ attention after a poor performance. Both felt Brown’s approach was not a good look for Syracuse football.
