LA Lakers superstar LeBron James has broken his silence on the beef between two of today’s most prominent rappers, Kendrick Lamar and Drake. On Thursday, Sept. 18, James was interviewed by Complex host Speedy Morman, where they discussed the future of his tenured basketball career, personal life, and his take on the beef between hip hop icon Lamar and Canadian rapper Drake, who has a net worth of $300 million, as per Celebrity Net Worth.
In a snippet uploaded by @realalmightee on X/Twitter, Morman asks James how he is with Drake and if there is still any love between them.
James and Drake were close friends, sharing moments on the court and even on social media. But since Drake and Lamar’s beef in 2024, James has pledged his allegiance to the Compton native.
“Always, always. Always wish him the best. Obviously, different places right now. He’s doing his thing, I’m doing mine. But, it’s always love for sure,” James said (0:08).

Fans reacted to the neutrality in James’ comments on the beef between two music icons.
“Differ between him and Steph…Steph straight said I’m on Drake side, I don’t do that flip flopping sh*t,” one user pointed out with four-time NBA champion Stephen Curry.
“How you going wish him the best but dance to a song calling him a p*d*??,” another user questioned.
“The backpedaling needs to be studied smh,” another posted with a GIF of sports analyst Stephen A. Smith.
“Why is he so PC? Be honest and upfront,” a user claimed.
A few X users opined that James’ response to Morman’s question was the only proper response to not instigate anything with Drake.
“Lying or embarrassed, both are right answers,” one fan shared.
“That BS answer. Just trying to keep it casual. I get it though,” another user wrote.
“Bron is the most media-trained n*gg* to ever live, you got to respect it 😭😭😭😭,” a fan exclaimed with a plethora of crying emojis.
Nevertheless, it seems James is shifting his focus back towards preparations for his 23rd season in the NBA in the 2025-26 campaign.
