Joe Flacco’s return as the Cleveland Browns’ starter has not gone according to plan. The veteran quarterback has opened the 2025 season with back-to-back losses, raising concerns about whether he can still lead an NFL offense effectively.
Fans have not been shy about voicing their frustration, with many already calling for the team to consider younger options. Rookie Dillon Gabriel and fifth-rounder Shedeur Sanders are waiting in the wings, and public pressure for a change is growing louder each week.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski, however, is sticking by Flacco for now, a decision that’s not sitting well with fans.

After Stefanski’s recent comment about keeping Flacco as the team’s number one option, fans are asking the organization to fire the coach.
“Well then Kevin should be fired. Zero reason to continue to trot out an old washed up QB on a bad team,” a fan wrote.
“He needs to go,” another commented.
“Stefanski should just rent out his defense to a team offensively good, but struggling defensively, for the remainder of the season,” a fan posted.
“LMAO – Kevin Stefanski must want to get fired mid season this year,” another noted.
“He clearly doesn’t want to win,” a fan wrote.
“And I’m starting to not defend Stefanski anymore,” a fan tweeted.
As things stand, Joe Flacco has little margin for error left. Another sluggish outing could accelerate a transition to Gabriel or even give Sanders a chance sooner than expected. The Browns have previously stated that they don’t want to rush their younger players.
However, if the veteran cannot stabilize the offense, the calls for change will only intensify, and there’ll be nothing in Kevin Stefanski’s hands to counter their outrage.
Joe Flacco on Kevin Stefanski’s Decision
The Cleveland Browns aren’t just losing games, they’re being humiliated on the field, and their weaknesses are getting exposed. The 17-41 loss against the Baltimore Ravens yesterday did the same thing, but Kevin Stefanski brushed it off as a part of the game.
Stefanski also stated that they’re a team, so win or lose, they’re doing it as a team, and the same can’t be pinned on one individual. While it might’ve been an attempt from Stefanski to protect the veteran quarterback, it’s not going to end well if they don’t start winning games.
When Flacco was asked to comment on his coach’s stance on not changing his starting QB, he said:
“I can’t worry about that stuff anyway. It’s honestly not on my mind. I gotta go out there and just play my game, play the way I know how to lead this team the best I can.”

With each loss and bad play, the pressure will continue to mount on the Browns. Week 3 matchup against an unbeaten Packers will be a major test for them.
