As the Detroit Lions hosted the Chicago Bears, Lions QB Jared Goff’s wife, Christen, brought their baby, Romy, for their first NFL game together as a family. The Lions ultimately won 52-21, with Goff celebrating with his child soon after that dominating performance at home. Christen even shared a heartwarming photo of father and child together soon on Instagram stories after the win.
“Big dad Energy!!!” she wrote.
Ahead of the game, as her husband and her teammates were warming up, Christen also posted a photo of herself with baby Romy in the VIP section about to enjoy the game together.
“First Gameday with Romy!” she wrote.
Romy Isabelle Goff is Jared Goff’s first child, as he and Christen welcomed her back in July. Goff was more than eager to talk about his upcoming fatherhood to People magazine when he and his wife first revealed that they were expecting.
“I’m looking forward to becoming a dad,” he said. “We’re just excited to enjoy this special time together and just soak up every second. I know it’ll add a new perspective to life, and it’ll be great.”
As for he and Christen, the couple have been dating since 2019 before getting engaged in June 2022. Two years later, they got married in their home state of California in June 2024. Later that year, Jared Goff would lead the Detroit Lions to becoming one of the best teams in the NFL with 15-2 record, tying the Kansas City Chiefs.
He also had a milestone season, as he threw 4,629 yards last season and was also second in the league in passing yards, just behind Joe Burrows. He also threw 37 touchdowns and had 68.4 QBR that same season.
Jared Goff Impressive in Win vs. Bears as Daughter Watched Her First NFL Game
The presence of his young baby daughter, Romy, in the stands may have given Jared Goff some extra motivation, as he performed better than expected against the Chicago Bears.
Goff threw for 334 yards on 28 attempts and 23 completions. He had as many touchdown passes as he had incomplete passes at five. This is also now the fifth time he was the starting quarterback for a team that scored at least 50 points, joining elite company as he ties Peyton Manning for the third-most 50-point games by a starting QB in the Super Bowl era.
Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery were also impressive, with the running back duo both scoring a rushing touchdown in the same game. This is the 10th time this has happened, tying the all-time record by Hall of Famers Paul Hornung and Jim Taylor during the 1950s and 1960s.
