Clemson Tigers’ early-season struggles hit a new low with a devastating 24-21 loss to Georgia Tech. The defeat came on a last-second 55-yard field goal that sealed Dabo Swinney’s Tigers’ fate and left their fans stunned.
The game started poorly for Clemson. Georgia Tech jumped ahead 13-0, moving the ball efficiently and capitalizing on mistakes. The Yellow Jackets struck with two early field goals and a rushing score to set the tone.
Clemson’s defense looked shaky in the opening stretch, while the offense failed to protect its quarterback and couldn’t establish rhythm. At one point, it looked like Clemson was headed for a blowout loss.
However, in the second half, they managed to cut the lead down and hold a one-point advantage for a while. But that didn’t last long, as their offense and defense crumbled toward the end, resulting in a 24-21 loss for Swinney’s team.
Antonio Brown took to X to take shots at the Tigers, especially Dabo Swinney. He quoted a clip of a man who brought a life-size doll to an airplane and wrote:
“Dabo Swinney already up to no good after that loss…”

Quarterback Cade Klubnik’s performance was a mix of positives and frustrations. He passed for 207 yards with one touchdown and one interception, adding another score with his legs. Bryant Wesco Jr. emerged as a bright spot, recording seven catches for 126 yards.
Still, Clemson’s offensive line allowed too much pressure, and turnovers once again proved costly. With this win, Georgia Tech remains undefeated, while this was Clemson’s second loss in three games. They also lost their season opener against LSU.

Dabo Swinney’s Clemson’s Offense Failed Once Again
Since the beginning of the season, when they lost 10-17 against LSU, Clemson’ Tigers’ offense has been criticized by many. Fans and media analysts believe they lack a good offense, and the team has constantly failed to provide Cade Klubnik with the right help.
During an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Alabama legend Nick Saban also outlined the same issue. Saban gave his brutal take on the Tigers ahead of the matchup. He stated that the team needs to do better on offense and can’t put all the pressure on Klubnik.
“The quarterback has been under duress the whole season,” Saban said. “In the LSU game, this guy was running for his life. And it affected them.”
“Klubnik is a really good player that hasn’t had an opportunity to play very effectively, and I think its because of the pressure he’s getting,” Saban added. “So, they need to fix their situation in the offensive line.”
Nick Saban’s analysis of the Tigers proved to be spot on, as today they lost because of a lack of offensive firepower. Even though they started well, they couldn’t keep the momentum going. The Tigers will play Syracuse next and they have a lot to work on over the next week.
