“Where the hell is Ryan Williams?”: Analyst Sounds Off on Alabama WR’s Personal Life Amid On-Field Struggles

Alabama’s 2025 college football season has not started on a note Crimson Tide fans would’ve hoped for.

While many fans and analysts took 2024’s 9-4 season with a pinch of salt, they believed this year would be different due to additions to the coaching staff, like Ryan Grubb, and star players having more on-field experience, like Ryan Williams, who was an ex-5-star recruit.

After facing a disappointing loss in Week 1 against FSU, Williams watched the team’s 76-0 blowout win against LA-Monroe from the sidelines due to an injury.

Talking about Williams’ contribution to the team, analyst and former Alabama RB Damien Harris asked some blunt questions during an appearance on CBS:

“Where the hell is Ryan Williams?” Harris said Saturday. “Do we need to put out a missing person report? Do we need to alert the authorities because, my brother – I’m going to go back to the Florida State game because that’s the only tape I’ve got of you so far. But AJ [McCarron], he sat up here and said a lot of things. To me, he looked out of shape, he looked bigger than what he needs to be, he didn’t look confident.

“He hasn’t had a 100-yard game since Georgia. He hasn’t had a touchdown since, what was it, Mercer last year? I mean, we’re going back five, six, seven, eight [games] all the way back to the Georgia game last year.”

“Listen, I love the fact that Alabama looked good last week against a high school football team. What I don’t like is I don’t know what’s up with Ryan Williams.” Harris added.

Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer spoke about Ryan Williams’ availability in Week 3 as the team faces Wisconsin.

After leaving the FSU matchup with a concussion and missing the second game, DeBoer confirmed on Wednesday that Williams is expected to play while Jah-Marien Latham, Jam Miller and Tim Keenan will all be “game-time decisions.”
