The Alabama Crimson Tide have had a lot of bumps early into the 2025 season, and Kalen DeBoer‘s squad is facing even more ahead of their game against Wisconsin on Saturday. ESPN analyst Pete Thamel confirmed on X that two Alabama starters, tailback Jam Miller and defensive lineman Tim Keenen, are not expected to play against Wisconsin. However, they will still likely dress up and warm up with their teammates but will likely not play.

Miller reportedly suffered a collarbone injury during the preseason training camp, while the Crimson Tide’s team captain, Keenan, underwent tightrope surgery back in August. Them likely warming up with the team may be signs that they are returning soon, however.
Miller was Alabama’s top returning rusher in 2024, finishing the season with 668 yards with seven touchdowns. Both he and Keenen have not yet been able to play in any game so far in 2025, though their return may be imminent if they are warming up with their teammates.
There is some good news for the Crimson Tide ahead of the game against the Wisconsin Badgers, however, as preseason All-America wide receiver Ryan Williams will finally be able to return on Saturday’s game. He did not play against Louisiana Monroe as he underwent concussion protocols.
Williams struggled in that season opener against Florida State after hitting his head on the turf in the fourth quarter. He did not get up after getting hit hard and it was later found that he had suffered a concussion. After the game, he underwent concussion protocol and was ruled out of that win against Louisiana Monroe.

Wisconsin Starting QB Will Likely Miss Game vs. Kalen DeBoer and Alabama
Meanwhile, as Alabama gets one big return while also missing two key players, their opponents during this Saturday’s big showdown, Wisconsin, will be missing one of their biggest pieces, and that is quarterback Billy Edwards Jr.
A report by ESPN’s Pete Thamel noted that the Wisconsin QB1 is “unlikely to play” against the Crimson Tide but will be with his team in Tuscaloosa and warm up with them. He suffered a knee sprain in 2021 and San Diego State transfer Danny O’Neil will be making his second start of the season as Edwards’ back-up.
