Wrestler Ric Flair did not hold back on his feelings when discussing his rivalry with Paul Finebaum over at ESPN during his recent appearance on Johnny Manziel’s YouTube show. Ric was very simple in his feelings of responsibility about the college football analyst.
The 76-year-old WWE Hall of Famer stated the feud with Finebaum is from what he sees as attacks on Harbaugh. Flair stated that he goes back with the current Los Angeles Chargers coach dating back to 1989 when Harbaugh played for the Chicago Bears, and where the paths would cross again in the college football world.
“Well, you know, if he if he wouldn’t make it personal, it wouldn’t bother me. But Jim Harbaugh and I have been friends since 1989 when he was playing for the Bears, right? And then I got recruited to go to Michigan and all that”, Ric Stated (2:04)
“Anyway, long story short, I ended up going to Minnesota, but when he was on on fall, it didn’t start till last year when he was on Harbaugh’s ass two years ago, right? And then he said he’ll never get a job in the NFL. Come on”, he explained further (2:19).
Clearly annoyed, Flair discussed the criticism Finebaum gave Harbaugh during the end of his years at Michigan and how Finebaum predicted that Harbaugh would never get an NFL job.
Flair’s rant prompted a discussion as to how that would have been resolved during the 80s.
“In the 80s we would have handled it a different way,” Flair said a smile (2:56).
“We’d follow them in the bathroom, lock the door up, give them the quick shampoo and let them up”, he further elaborated (3:06).
Flair’s feelings of resentment toward Finebaum began to grow when Finebaum called Lincoln Riley a “coward”. He noted that such personal characterization crosses a line that should not be taken in sports commentary, particularly when apps are simply discussing opinions about college football coaching and bad play from a team.

Finebaum Accused Harbaugh of “Stealing a National Championship”
Finebaum has indeed gone after Harbaugh with relentless criticism, especially after numerous Michigan football players were in the news about the sign-stealing scandal.
The ESPN analyst recently intensified his rhetoric, claiming Harbaugh “stole a national championship” and accused him of “highway robbery” when he departed for the NFL before fully serving the sanctions that were levied against him by the NCAA investigation.
Finebaum’s prediction that Harbaugh would never take another NFL job was proven spectacularly wrong when the Chargers hired him as their head coach.
While Harbaugh’s successful transition to the Chargers continues to give Flair more ammunition in their back-and-forth as Harbaugh enters his second season with the Chargers, who now have playoff expectations
