The Washington Commanders’ 27-18 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football was forgettable. Much of the spotlight has landed squarely on Kliff Kingsbury. The offensive coordinator rolled out a game plan that sputtered from the start.
Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels was under constant pressure, and the unit failed to generate momentum until it was far too late. Kingsbury’s reputation as a play-caller has always been a mixed bag, but Thursday night poured gasoline on the fire.
Green Bay’s defense looked comfortable reading Washington’s setups, and Daniels, despite flashes of poise, was left stranded in a system that offered little support. It didn’t take long for the internet to react.
Social media lit up with memes and jokes to roast Kingsbury’s decisions, with fans venting their frustrations in real time. Some mocked his inability to adjust, while others turned his trademark offensive guru label into a punchline.
Here are the top seven, among hundreds, if not thousands, of jokes on Kingsbury.
Some fans called Kingsbury’s plays basic. How basic? Straight out of an 80s video game.

For a Commanders team trying to build around Daniels, Thursday felt like a step back. And for Kingsbury, it was another night where the narrative turned against him.

Kliff Kingsbury Wanted to Set the Tone from the Beginning
The Commanders had a terrible preseason run, losing all three games to the Patriots, Bengals, and Ravens. So, with pressure mounting on the coaching staff and players ahead of the season opener, Kingsbury made a bold comment.
They played their first game of the season against the Giants. Despite the preseason failures, Kingsbury believed he could turn things around for good.
“I liked the additions we made. I loved how we practiced and how we’ve worked and the connection the guys have,” he said.
The first game turned out to be a brilliant outing for the Commanders as they beat the Giants 21-6. But all the hype from their Week 1 win came crashing down when they faced the Packers. Now, it’s back to the drawing board for Kingsbury and his team.
