Coach Prime himself, Deion Sanders, is very close to his family, particularly his mom, Connie Knight. The former Dallas Cowboy and current Colorado Buffaloes Star even made it a point to hide his cancer battle from his mom, who is also very close to her grandchildren, including Shedeur and Shilo Sanders.
During a family gathering, Shilo got to meet with his grandmother and gave her a hug. This was when his father pointed out that he does not come to family gatherings as much, and this is making Connie sad.

“I know, I’m her favorite grandson,” replied Shilo Sanders.
This happened back in 2024, while Shedeur and Shilo Sanders were still playing for the Colorado Buffaloes. Currently, Shedeur is in Cleveland, playing for the Browns, while Shilo Sanders is a free agent after being let go by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
As for Deion Sanders, he is still the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes and is currently guiding his team through the new 2025 season.
The matriarch of the family, Connie Knight, is still alive and well. She even appeared alongside her NFL Hall of Famer son, Deion, during an ad for Nike earlier this year. It promoted Deion Sanders’ own tribute to his mom, which is a special colorway version of the Nike Air DT ’96 called “Love Letter to Connie.”

The colorway celebrated Mother’s Day this year, with Deion and his mom sporting matching red sneakers as part of the campaign.
Deion Sanders Comments on Shilo Sanders’ Buccaneers Release
As for Shilo Sanders, the former Colorado standout, who went undrafted earlier this year before getting cut from Tampa Bay is still a free agent and is still looking for a team to recruit him. His father, NFL legend Deion Sanders, has now commented on the fate of his son:
“We’re praying that he gets another opportunity to go with a team, but if he doesn’t, the plans have already been put forward to what he’s going to do next,” he said in August. “So, Shilo is a man of many talents. I don’t know if you guys know. He’s a man of many talents, and he’s gonna be straight. All the Sanders are gonna be straight, with or without football. You better believe that.”
It is still unknown what Shilo’s plans after his release from the Buccaneers, but he has plenty of options, from playing in Canada to helping his dad out at Colorado.
