“Hasn’t Looked Better”: Analyst Draws Blunt Comparisons Between $4.7M NIL-Valued Carson Beck and Georgia QB Gunner Stockton

CBS Sports analyst Bud Elliott isn’t buying the hype surrounding Georgia’s new starter, Gunner Stockton. In a very honest take, Elliott offered a dose of reality about Stockton’s early-season performances.

In a way, Elliott was very candid about Stockton’s performances so far, taking a cut straight to what Georgia fans have probably been thinking so far.

“We heard the narrative all offseason that the quarterback drives a truck and fits the locker room better and all that kind of stuff, but he’s (Gunner Stockton) not better at football than Carson Beck,” Elliott stated bluntly during his CBS Sports appearance.

“That’s all really cool Sunday to Friday, but on Saturdays so far he hasn’t looked better than Beck,” he added.

The analyst did not hold back on the aftermath of Stockton’s opening performances. Though Elliott doesn’t believe Stockton “sucks,” he voiced concerns for where the quarterback is headed.

“I don’t think he right now is like a top half quarterback in the league, and that’s a little weird to have the SEC favorite not to have…you know a guy like that,”  he further elaborated.

Meanwhile, Carson Beck, previously the starting quarterback at Georgia and now a hot-shot NIL player at a valuation of $4.7 million, has settled right in at Miami. He helped the team to dominate Bethune-Cookman, leading the way in a 45-3 victory in Week 2. Beck completed 22 of 24 passes for 267 yards and two touchdowns.

For Georgia, early returns on Gunner Stockton have been mixed. The redshirt sophomore appeared to take a step forward in the opener against Marshall, with four total touchdowns by passing and rushing.

Georgia entered the year as one of the favorites to become the national champions. It will be interesting to see if they live up to those same expectations.

Carson Beck Had an Impressive Miami Debut Against Notre Dame

Carson Beck’s quick adjustment to Mario Cristobal’s system has been impressive as both coaches and analysts have noted. Beck missed spring practice while recovering from elbow surgery after Georgia’s SEC championship game loss, and when he started taking reps and mixing reps with receivers, his chemistry with the new receivers was quite apparent.

The talented quarterback helped Miami prevail 27-24 against Notre Dame in his debut game for the team in Week 1. He completed 20 of 31 passes and threw for 205 yards and two touchdowns.
