Joel Klatt Minces No Words About DJ Lagway’s Upcoming Struggles Against LSU in Week 3

Florida is in for a rough few games after losing all momentum against South Florida. They are facing off against No. 3-ranked LSU, and quarterback DJ Lagway may be struggling. The Gators, which were seen as one of the top contenders this season, lost to USF, with many now questioning the hype, especially against a team like LSU.

During “The Joel Klatt Show: A College Football Podcast,” host Joel Klatt described the upcoming game and noted that the game was a lot more exciting when speculating about it and questioned the Gators’ ability to compete against top-tier teams after that upset loss to South Florida.

“You just sit there, if you’re in my position, and you think to yourself, okay, is that team going to play the way that they played and lose to South Florida at home and then the very next week go on the road in Baton Rouge in Death Valley and beat that LSU team? The answer is no,” Klatt said. (16:48)

He then touched on how DJ Lagway struggled against South Florida’s defense and then questioned how he might do against one of the best defenses in the country in LSU.

“South Florida didn’t even present a lot of pressure on Lagway and yet they couldn’t get anything going on the offensive side,” Klatt pointed out. “LSU’s defense is better than South Florida, and they will produce pressure on the quarterback. Lagway will be under pressure.”

The Tigers are still red-hot, beating Clemson on the road before going back home with a 23-7 win over Louisiana Tech. Meanwhile, Florida is 1-1, starting off strong with a one-sided beatdown of LIU before South Florida upset that at The Swamp.

Last Time LSU and Florida Met, DJ Lagway Led the Gators to a Comeback Victory

As for DJ Lagway, he has previously shown that he could get things done against LSU. The last time Florida and LSU met was last season, when LSU had a big lead in the fourth quarter. However, DJ Lagway led the Gators to a furious comeback to beat the Tigers 27-16.

Lagway threw 26 times, connecting on 13 and leading to one touchdown en route to that comeback victory. The Gators scored 14 of their 27 points in that big fourth-quarter comeback.

The question now is, could Lagway repeat that magic at Tigers Stadium on Saturday? The game will happen on Saturday, with the SEC Network airing the game live.
