Bill Belichick made what many believed was a historic move this year when he joined the University of North Carolina to coach their football team. As the season started, people’s confidence in the legendary coach started to fade away. But Tom Brady has not lost faith in him.
Brady and Belichick have had their differences in the past. What stands out in their partnership, however, is the Patriots dynasty they built together. So, any comment from Brady on Belichick becomes headline-worthy.
During a recent appearance on Kevin Hart’s “Cold As Balls,” the NFL legend was asked about his former coach and what he thinks of Belichick’s new job with the Tar Heels. Brady was all praise for him and even gave an update on their relationship.
“I saw him two nights ago,” Brady said. “I opened a great museum at the Fontainebleau casino in Las Vegas called ‘The Hall of Excellence.’ And he came and it was great that he was there. We always have a great relationship.” (6:35)
Brady stated that he appreciates everything Belichick did for him as his coach. As for his Tar Heels stint, Brady believes that the players at UNC are lucky that they get to learn from the master, who has won eight Super Bowl rings.
“I think those kids at North Carolina have a great opportunity to succeed,” Brady said. “Because he’s not like the other guys that have coached them in the past. He’s different.”

Bill Belichick is Still Not Unanimously Favored to Win at UNC
Being praised by Tom Brady must mean a lot to Bill Belichick, and it’ll be interesting to see his response in the coming week. However, the Tar Heels’ head coach is still not the perfect choice for UNC, according to some critics.
Jason Whitlock has been his biggest critic in recent weeks. On his show, Whitlock has openly criticized Belichick as he believes the coach lacks focus and is too distracted by things outside of football.
“This North Carolina deal is not going to work. It’s a wrap,” Whitlock said. “Bill Belichick is making a fool of himself. His team looked soft, looked confused. It looked like a team that’s being led by a 73-year-old man who is publicly gallivanting around, parading around, with a 24-year-old sugar baby.” (0:45)
It’s too early to predict failure for Bill Belichick. Even though he lost the first game 14-48 against TCU, his team bounced back for a dominant 20-3 victory in Week 2 against Charlotte.
