Compared to the season opener against Ohio State, Arch Manning had a much-improved outing in Week 2. The Texas Longhorns ran San Jose State out of town in their game this past weekend, winning 38-7. Arch Manning threw for 295 yards, with four touchdown passes and an interception. His completion percentage was 63.3%.
However, according to sports journalist and political commentator Clay Travis, there’s still room for improvement for the heir of the Manning legacy.
“He still has accuracy issues. He is still missing too many throws. Sometimes he’s trying to do too much. The interception that he threw, he got caught on a blitz. He threw the ball off his back foot to his receiver in the right corner of the end zone. Ball got picked. It should have been a play that he just ate. Should’ve taken the sack there and not thrown the ball up and again, he has to get better on accuracy,” Travis said (9:59).
He did recognize that Arch Manning seems to be taking the basics well, and praised him for it, saying:
“But I thought that he’s seeing the field well, and he is getting the ball delivered where it needs to go.”
Travis added that beating San Jose State isn’t the toughest nut to crack, and that just singing Manning’s praises would be an overreaction. However, he also pointed out that belittling an untested quarterback for losing to the reigning national champions was also an overreaction.

Steve Sarkisian Dismisses Rumors of Arch Manning’s Shoulder Injury
During his Monday press conference, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian seemed fairly surprised by one of the questions.
Sarkisian was asked about a rumor circulating on social media about Arch Manning suffering a shoulder injury and that his throwing mechanics had been affected by it. It seemed to be the first time the coach had heard about it.
“According to who? Arch said that to you?” Sarkisian asked.
When the reporter said there was a video on social media in which the quarterback seemed to be suffering from some kind of pain in the area, Sarkisian replied:
“I’ve never filmed any of you guys when you’re using the bathroom, so I don’t know what faces you make when you’re doing that.”
Texas Longhorns fans can be confident that their quarterback will be in good shape for their Week 3 encounter against the UTEP Miners.
