Maya Moore Recreating Michael Jordan’s Iconic Picture Sets Fans Abuzz: “Legitimately Never Heard of Her”

A star-studded Hall of Fame added two more legends on Saturday. UConn greats Maya Moore and Sue Bird got inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame to honor their sparkling careers.

Moore played for UConn from 2007 to 2011. She won two NCAA championships back to back in 2009 and 2010. She then went on to win four WNBA championships with Minnesota Lynx. In her short career of eight years, Maya Moore’s impact on the league and the sport was unparalleled. She is often regarded as the GOAT of women’s basketball. It was all but obvious that one brand would be perfect for that reputation.

Michael Jordan’s brand with Nike signed Maya Moore in 2011, making her the first woman to sign for the brand. After Hall of Fame inclusion, Maya Moore recreated Jordan’s iconic picture.

Jordan brand’s newest campaign received mixed reactions from the fans. While Hall of Fame honor was celebrated in a special way, her comparison with Michael Jordan did not sit right with some fans.

“Legitimately never heard of her,” a fan commented.

“Who is Maya Moore?” another replied.

“And yall telling me a girl who ain’t finished two whole season in the WNBA is the GOAT…???” one user said.

“It’s women’s sports, doesn’t matter,” another made a bold statement.

“I have zero idea who this woman is? People in other solar systems know who Jordan is,” one user commented.

“Not even kidding, I’ve literally never heard of her,” another fan admitted.

“If that meant anything she wouldn’t have to compare herself to Michael Jordan,” one user said.

“It’s kinda shocking ppl really don’t know who Maya Moore is,” one fan was surprised.

Although many users were unaware of Maya Moore, everyone close to basketball and WNBA knows how she changed women’s basketball.

“Today is my grandfather’s birthday. He passed away a few months ago. Without my grandparents and their unconditional love, this energetic, wild, little kid wouldn’t be standing here. I just love that it is on his birthday.”

Moore expressed her love and gratitude for her teammates, mentors and coaches over her career. With Geno Auriemma on the stage with her, she made sure to give the UConn legend his flowers.
