“Fire Rhett Lashlee”: SMU Fans Don’t Hold Back As Mustangs Lose To Unranked Baylor In 3-Point Upset

Last year’s College Football Playoff participants, the SMU Mustangs, got a big surprise during the Week 2 encounter against the Baylor Bears. The Bears pulled off the upset in this clash of Texas schools, beating the No. 17 Mustangs by a field goal, 48-45, in a game that went to double overtime.

The surprise victory by the Bears extends Baylor’s winning streak over SMU to 14 games. Fans were quick to react to the upset, which will likely cause the Mustangs to drop out of the top 25, with some claiming this is the end of SMU’s playoff hopes.

“SMU has been eliminated from the playoffs!!” said one fan.

“And fire Rhett Lashlee,” demanded another person.

    “Choke alert,” joked one fan.

    “SMU sucks!” complained someone else.

“B12 own the ACC 😂” said one person joyfully.

Some fans just seemed to enjoy the game.

    “Insane game,” said one person.

“WHAT A GAME LETS GO,” commented another.

Someone said that the Mustangs’ coach might be helping an old SEC team of his.

“Rhett Lashlee is the ultimate Auburn guy for throwing a 14 point lead to prop up Auburn’s win against Baylor,” joked one Auburn fan.
