Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes came in firing on all cylinders against Georgia Tech on Friday. On his first drive as the team’s new quarterback, Kaidon Salter scored a touchdown for the Buffaloes to take the lead season opener.
Despite the Yellow Jackets having the first possession of the game, Colorado was able to go on the offense fairly quickly following a fumble by Georgia Tech in their first drive. In turn, Colorado struck immediately, scoring a touchdown in a five-play drive, which ended in an eight-yard pass from Salter to Dekalon Taylor.

However, not everyone saw the play as a clean one, with some fans complaining that the referees neglected to call a holding from Colorado’s offensive line.
“Refs must have been checking out Deion’s bathroom on that one,” wrote one person,
“They better not call a hold on Georgia Tech this next drive,” complained another fan.
Some did wonder if the Georgia Tech fans were imagining things.
“At game, was hold as bad as GT twitter is saying,” seemingly asked someone else.
“it was a pretty big no call, but that tends to happen when a qb bails out the pocket. Hazards of the trade,” said another person.
In general, fans seemed to disagree with the call, or lack thereof, by the officials.
“I guess holding isn’t a thing in this game, because 8 on GT got absolutely mugged,” said a neutral Seminoles fan.
“How #53 wasn’t flagged is beyond me,” said a speechless fan.
“Dang guess we’re already not calling holding,” joked someone.

Haynes King and Georgia Tech fire back at Colorado, taking the lead halfway through the second quarter
While the Yellow Jackets seemingly had no answer for Colorado in the first quarter, with their three possessions resulting in two fumbles and an interception, the ACC team found its composure in the second quarter.
They opened the quarter with a long 13-play, six-and-a-half-minute, and 84-yard drive that ended in a 32-yard field goal at 13:31.

However, their true answer came in the latter portion of the quarter, when Haynes King persevered to lead the Yellow Jackets on a 10-play drive that ended with him scoring a four-yard rushing touchdown on third and a goal from the two-yard line. With it, Georgia Tech took the lead in the game, 10-7, with four and a half minutes left in the half. Colorado, in turn, answered with a 42-yard field goal on the following drive.
The Yellow Jackets won the first half back and forth, with King leading a lightning drive, which put them on field goal range with only 1:39 left on the clock. With four seconds left on the clock, Georgia Tech spiked the ball, and kicker Aidan Birr scored his second field goal of the night, a 43-yarder that gave them a 13-10 lead going into halftime.
Haynes King has so far thrown for 96 yards, and he has completed eight out of 11 passes. He has, however, given up one interception to Colorado’s defense. King also has 54 rushing yards and a touchdown. For his part, Salter has 48 passing yards with one touchdown. He has completed six out of 10 passes. In the running game, he has 23 yards.
