Chad Johnson Fires Back With Clear Message To Georgia Tech Standout Clayton Powell-Lee For Calling Out Deion Sanders’ Colorado

Deion Sanders has changed the realm of Colorado football, not just by taking it from a 1-11 team in 2022 to 4-8 in 2023 and 9-4 in 2024, but also by the love and support he has been able to draw to the program, selling out stadiums for the first time in years.

Before Colorado takes on Georgia Tech on Aug. 29 for the season opener, the Yellow Jackets’ DB Clayton Powell-Lee made a bold statement during a press conference on Monday. He was asked about his mindset for playing at Folsom Field, to which he said:

“everybody says it’s it’s a different experience, but I’ve experienced some crazy stadiums since being here. So just knowing that, not trying to over hype it, honestly, like it’s another game.”

He further said Colorado brings out celebrities and does “crazy stuff,” but none of them play the game.

Reacting to these statements, Chad Johnson said:

“You talking like that. I’m tuned in because I’m trying to see what you are. Trying to see what type of time you want, if you really like that young boy. What number is he? You play? DB for Georgia Tech, right? Oh, no. Oh No. 5, he wearing a single digit too. Okay. He, hey, he, probably, he must be like that. I’m watching. I’m trying to see what you want, what type of time you want, if the game match your mouth. No, I wish you nothing but the best.”

“Clayton Powell-Lee I’m locked in tonight young boul,” Johnson added on X.

Deion Sanders Talks Difference in the Colorado Team in 2025

During an interview with CBS on Aug. 29, Deion Sanders shared how the Colorado team is going to be in the 2025 season after losing stars like Travis Hunter, Shedeur Sanders, LaJohntay Wester, Jimmy Horn Jr., and more.

Coach Prime revealed that they plan to be more physical this year and that the defense is going to fly around in the second year under defensive coordinator Robert Livington.

He further emphasized offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur’s second year and said it’s going to be different.

“It’s going to be different. And I like different. I do. And I know how we’re thinking about the game plan and what we’re going to implement, but it’s going to be a different brand of Colorado football,” he said (2:15).

Kaiden Salter is Deion Sanders‘ starting quarterback in 2025.
