Carson Beck, Georgia’s standout quarterback with an NIL valuation of $4.3 million, has added another honor to his growing résumé.
On Tuesday, Miami football announced that Beck had earned a spot on the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List, sharing the moment with the caption:

Carson’s sister, Kylie Beck, acknowledged the post and couldn’t resist praising her brother in response. She reshared the announcement on her Instagram story, adding just one word of her own:
“Yupppp.”

Undoubtedly, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award is one of college football’s most sought-after honors, awarded to quarterbacks who exhibit leadership qualities and promising performances. The 2025 Golden Arm Watch List shines a spotlight on 57 quarterbacks besides Beck, including Joey Aguilar, Drew Allar, and Nico Iamaleava, to name a few.
Carson Beck, once regarded as the top prospect out of Georgia, is now about to prove himself at Miami’s QB1 spot. Therefore, he has earned a place in the list of college football’s most reliable signal-callers in 2025, as doubled down by his nomination.
As Miami heads to a new season with Beck, the Florida native’s place on this watch list reinforces his stature as a top-tier quarterback in 2025.

Carson Beck’s Run at Miami Might Prove Georgia as a ‘Defensive Program’: Analyst
Carson Beck’s move to Miami has already sparked debate, and Todd McShay believes it could redefine how Georgia is viewed as a program.
After closing his Bulldogs career with an SEC championship, a College Football Playoff berth, and plenty of criticism, Beck is now tasked with proving himself in Coral Gables.
Coming off a UCL injury, doubts lingered, but reports out of Hurricanes camp have been overwhelmingly positive, with CBS Sports’ Brandon Marcello noting Beck “looks phenomenal.”
Still, The Ringer’s McShay says Beck’s success could have ripple effects far beyond Miami.
“If he goes out and has a monster year, and Miami’s in the mix at the end like they were with Cam Ward last year, and they’re putting up big numbers and the offense is running and he’s a little bit more accurate and his receivers aren’t having to work for it the way they did at Georgia… you know what becomes the storyline?” Questioned McShay.
Todd McShay answered the question, throwing a new perspective on Kirby Smart’s Georgia team, saying:
‘Georgia doesn’t take care of their receivers or their passing game. They are a defensive program that runs the football and has really good tight ends…”

The observation didn’t go unnoticed in Athens, where Kirby Smart bolstered the receiver room this offseason with transfer additions Noah Thomas, Zachariah Branch, and Micah Bell. Whether Gunner Stockton can capitalize on that remains uncertain.
Meanwhile, Carson Beck inherits one of the nation’s top offensive lines, which once surrounded Cam Ward and a promising receiver corps at Miami, giving him every chance to flip the narrative.
