Azzi Fudd Reflects on Starting a New Season Without Girlfriend Paige Bueckers

Azzi Fudd formed one of the most dominant duos in women’s college basketball with Paige Bueckers over at UConn, and they were so good together that they won a national title. The two are now the “It Couple” for women’s basketball, for both the WNBA and college basketball, with their relationship capturing the imaginations of many.

With Bueckers going to the WNBA and Fudd choosing to max out her eligibility to play college ball, the question now goes to how Fudd can do without Bueckers. During her appearance on “Inside the W,” Fudd was asked about playing without her girlfriend for the first time in her career, and here is what she said:

“Yeah, it’s definitely going to be different, but it’s going to be great. We have some new pieces coming in and I mean, just from this summer, I got like chills,” Fudd said. “I was so excited with how things went. So, to get more time with them to really build our chemistry and build what we’re working on as a team, it’s going to be another great year.” (10:33)

While there are still some questions on how Fudd will do without her partner by her side at UConn, Paige Bueckers has already proven herself in the WNBA, as she was voted to become an All-Star this year and is one of the favorites to win Rookie of the Year.

Despite this, the Dallas Wings are struggling with a below .500 record and may not even make the playoffs, which means that while Bueckers is thriving as a player, her team is not doing so well.

Azzi Fudd Admits Paige Bueckers is Currently One of Her Favorite WNBA Players

During that same interview, Azzi Fudd was also asked who her favorite WNBA players are, and she admitted to one very obvious name, Paige Bueckers, as well as several other WNBA stars.

“Yes. Napheesa (Collier), definitely Paige, um, huge Natasha Cloud fan, so her, and then I feel like those are my top ones,” she said. (10:58)

Fudd then predicted that the Minnesota Lynx might win the WNBA title this year, even though she admitted that the New York Liberty was quite stacked.

Azzzi Fudd also talked about travelling to China with Steph Curry and holding a basketball camp there, admitting that she was nervous at first and that Curry was very cool.
