It’s been more than a month since Azzi Fudd and Paige Bueckers have ‘hard launched’ their relationship. After months of speculation, fans are happy to see the UConn college duo kindling a wholesome relationship together, which everyone can’t seem to get enough of. But sometimes, all it takes for fans to get irked could be the subtle recognition that queer relationships deserve.
Azzi Fudd recently appeared on Sports Illustrated’s ‘Around the W‘ show, hosted by Marie Clifton. While they spoke about many topics – from Azzi’s national championship-winning season to rating her 2025 WNBA draft outfit. However, one thing that struck fans was how the host kept referring to Paige Bueckers as Azzi Fudd’s ‘bestie.’
“Going back to school, it’s gonna look a little different. Your bestie is not by your side. Paige is not there. You got Paige Bueckers. I know you guys did kind of a hard launch this year in July. You guys besties, friends, and all that. What’s it going to look like without your bestie on the court?” DJ Ria asked Azzi Fudd. (10:20)
Azzi Fudd answered the question quite gracefully, saying she is looking forward to playing with the new pieces coming into UConn this season. However, the fans had mixed reactions to Paige Bueckers still being called Azzi’s ‘bestie’ despite the hard launch. Here is what they had to say in the comments section of the video.
“Hard launched as besties is crazy work,” one fan wrote.
“azzi has been hard launching her relationship with paige and they’re still seen as besties, i know she’s sick,” said another fan.
“Bestie,side kick hard launch besties x3…all that 😭😭 saying everything but girlfriend,” another fan said.
“Bestie?! That’s her girl,” one fan wrote.
“Interviewer did everything to avoid calling Paige her girlfriend lol,” another fan added.
“I better see Marie refer to every straight couple as “besties” from here on out cuz what was that…..they’re girlfriends and in a valid relationship. Not “besties,” one fan exclaimed.
During the WNBA All-Star weekend, Paige Bueckers officially launched the relationship in an interview in Indianapolis, calling Azzi Fudd her ‘girlfriend.’ Now, fans are eagerly rooting for Fudd and Bueckers to join teams together when the former declares for the WNBA draft next year.
Azzi Fudd admitted to stealing Paige Bueckers’ clothes
The relationship between Azzi Fudd and Paige Bueckers is beyond wholesome. Even to the point that Fudd comfortably admitted to stealing Bueckers’ clothes.
Speaking to The Fall Shop, Fudd described which item is always on her list to cop from Paige’s wardrobe.
“Oh my gosh, I take everything from her. Literally everything. We’re not the same size. Like, obviously, she’s a little skinnier than I am, but she wears her stuff baggy, so it fits me perfectly. So I steal anything from jeans to sweats to hoodies to sweaters, her bags…literally everything except for her shoes. I wish I could take her shoes,” Azzi said.
In fact, some items do not find their way back to Bueckers’ wardrobe sometimes. Fudd also admitted how she has still kept some of Bueckers’ jeans and a couple of her sweaters. And when Bueckers see Fudd wearing one of her clothes, Fudd playfully gaslights her into believing she had given them to her, even if she didn’t.
