As the Indiana Fever miss Caitlin Clark’s magic, it’s important to keep all their top players, including Kelsey Mitchell, who has led the charge this season, Natasha Howard, Aliyah Boston, Lexie Hull, and Sophie Cunningham, safe.
However, during the Connecticut Suns’ matchup on Sunday, Sophie Cunningham was seen struggling in pain after Bria Hartley slipped and landed around Cunningham’s knee on the right leg.
Cunningham was then taken to the sideline, and the Fever’s X account announced that she wouldn’t be returning to the game.
Reacting to this incident, analyst Jason Whitlock couldn’t control his frustration and took X to express it, demanding that Fever head coach Stephanie White be fired for not being able to keep her star players safe.
“Sophie Cunningham’s injury signals the official start of football season. Nightmare season. Fire Stephanie White.” Whitlock wrote.
The Indiana Fever took on the Connecticut Sun without their star player, Caitlin Clark, as she is out due to a groin injury that has been troubling her since July 15th, leading her to spend time on the sideline.
The Indiana Fever are facing a difficult season for themselves as they struggle to get wins in, with an overall record of 18-16 this season and being at the 7th seed in overall WNBA rankings. Things are not looking good for Stephanie White’s team.
Clark is not the only crucial factor for the franchise that’s currently facing injury; both Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald had to be off-court due to their season-ending injuries.
Sophie Cunningham’s injury signals the official start of football season. Nightmare season.
Fire Stephanie White.

Paige Bueckers Breaks Silence on Sophia Cunningham’s Biasness Claims
On Aug. 13, the Indiana Fever and Dallas Wings met for a thrilling matchup that ended with Paige Bueckers and her team securing a close 81-80 win.
After the game, during an appearance on the “Show Me Something” show, Cunningham was asked about what went wrong during the matchup against Paige Bueckers and her team, to which she said:
“I love Paige to death, do not get me wrong, I think she’s a hell of a player and would love to play with her one day,” Cunningham said. “But those refs were giving her every freaking whistle last night. Like, you literally couldn’t touch her. Couldn’t touch her, and that s*** is so annoying to me. And if you’re gonna do that, give it to our guards. Like, I just hate the inconsistency.”
Last one. Here’s Sophie talking about Paige’s special whistle.

Replying to these comments, Bueckers simply said everybody is entitled to their own “unique personal opinion.”
