Kate Martin seems to be enjoying her time with the Golden State Valkyries. The Valkyries are the newest franchise of the WNBA, having joined the league for the 2025 season.
While the former Iowa player had started her professional career with the Las Vegas Aces, who drafted her in the second round of the 2024 WNBA Draft, Martin moved to a new team when the Valkyries picked her in the expansion draft.

On Saturday, Martin shared a series of photos of her time in the Bay Area, which garnered the attention of former teammates and fans alike.
“HOT SLAY AUNTIE”, “YEZZZZ QUEEN” AND “LOVE U,” wrote Caitlin Clark.
“LOVE THESE,” said Iowa’s Kylie Feuerbach.
“MY KATIE GIRL!” commented Sydney Colsen.
“SUCH WHOLESOME CONTENT KATE GIRL,” wrote content creator Bri Lewerke.
Fans were also glad to see Kate Martin having a good time.
“FINALLY A POST FOR THE KATE MARTIN FAN CLUB! WELCOME BACK!” said one fan.
“WHEN DID YOU CHILDREN? YOU SHOULD POST MORE,” said one individual after seeing her pic with a child.
There’s no indication from any source that Kate Martin is a mom, so the confusion of the fan might just be that. A misunderstanding. As Caitlin Clark’s comments suggest, Martin was likely spending time with her nephews.
Kate Martin on recent struggles with Golden State Valkyries
When Kate Martin was selected by the Valkyries during the WNBA Expansion Draft, most figured she would be a key piece of the team’s rotation during her sophomore campaign. Initially, she was, but in more recent times her role with the team has decreased.
However, Martin was optimistic for what remains of the season. Last week, she shared her feelings on her situation with the San Francisco Standard:
“For me personally, it’s just controlling what I can control. It definitely depends if we have players out or not, depending on how many minutes, but I never try to focus on how many minutes I’m going to get,” the former Iowa guard said. “When I shift my focus more toward the defensive end, getting rebounds, and letting the game flow to me, that’s how I stay ready and make an impact on the court when I do get in.”
Kate Martin has so far started in three games, but has played in 31 in 2025. She has improved over her 2024 rookie averages, with 5.9 points, 2.4 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.
