After months of drama surrounding his decline in draft pick, Shedeur Sanders is lighting up the preseason. In his preseason debut against the Panthers, Sanders went 14-of-23 for 138 yards, tossing two touchdowns in the process.
And once again, the discussions around his name are heating up. Skip Bayless, known for his unfiltered, often blunt takes on various sports, recently jumped in with a claim. The media veteran took to X to express his thoughts.
In what could have been a simple praise post for Sanders, Bayless brought Cam Ward into the discussion to say:
“I like Cam Ward. I just like Shedeur more.”
Much like with most things Bayless says, the fans disagreed. They flocked to the replies under his post to berate the 73-year-old for his seemingly outrageous claim. Some even questioned whether he is being paid by the Sanders family to make such claims.

One fan pointed out how this could jinx Sanders, as Bayless is apparently never on the right side with his predictions.
“That tells us that Cam Ward will dominate, and sorry Shedeur, but you got the kiss of death. Because this man is almost never right about anything,” the fan WROTE.
“This couldn’t wait to come out the closet to criticize Cam as I predicted. Where was you last week when he was playing well?” a fan WROTE.
“Good thing no one takes you or anything you say seriously any more, Skip,” a fan WROTE.
As furious as the fans are over Bayless’ claim, it’s worth noting that he has been in Sanders’ corner from the beginning.

Heading toward the 2025 NFL Draft, Sanders was, in the majority opinion, going to be a top draft pick. Most analysts and pundits had him in the first round, some even in the top 10. The reality shook everyone as Sanders fell to the fifth round and was the 144th pick by the Browns.
The shocking decline was a widely debated subject among fans, analysts, and other stars from different sports. That made Sanders’ debut with the Browns a highly anticipated event. And he came in with a bang.
After his notable preseason debut, Bayless posted a video on X to berate the doubters.
“Tonight, Shedeur Sanders made the entire National Football League look like a whole bunch of petty fools and, in some cases, racist fools. In many cases, Deion (Sanders)-despising fools,” Bayless said.
“Tonight at Carolina, Shedeur Sanders made all those teams that had 143 chances to draft him before he went 144, he shamed all of them, including the Cleveland Browns, who finally took him in the fifth round.”

Many still argued that it was just a preseason game against the Panthers, and there was nothing to boast about. But considering the turmoil Sanders went through, despite being talented and skilled, it was understandable why people on his side celebrated it like a monumental event.
