Colin Cowherd Drops Brutal Assessment On $6,200,000,000 AFC Franchise Weeks Away From Season Kickoff

Colin Cowherd went on a full-blown rant against the Miami Dolphins and their head coach, Mike McDaniel, after their recent joint practice with the Detroit Lions. McDaniel has been coaching the Dolphins for the last three years and they have yet to top the AFC East despite having a star-studded roster, including wide receiver Tyreek Hill and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

On Thursday, Cowherd put pressure on the team’s leadership after a joint practice, which he called “embarrassing” on the Dolphins’ part. He particularly pressed against McDaniel for a glaring lack of accountability.

“Mike McDaniel, not a guy who holds people accountable, they’ve been a top-five penalized team since he’s been a coach of the Dolphins,” Cowherd said. “So yesterday, the Dolphins had a practice with the Lions. The quote here is: “It was as lopsided a joint NFL practice as I’ve ever seen. You can’t be a bowl of Jell-O. That’s what Miami is. Lots of movement, no meat in the sandwich. And that’s why I say, with Miami and Mike McDaniel, what are they? And now he’s trying to create accountability, and it’s hard.”

Dolphins, who are worth $6.2 billion according to Forbes, are entering their fourth season under Mike McDaniel. After posting a dismal 8-9 record, the Dolphins missed the playoffs for the first time under McDaniel.

The coach would hope for nothing less than a playoff appearance in the next season or else face such reactions from Colin Cowherd and their fanbase.

Lions’ Defense Crushes Mike McDaniel’s Dolphins Offense in Joint Practice

Detroit’s defense overpowered Miami’s offense across all units, delivering what many described as one of the most dominant displays in a joint practice. However, the Dolphins were shorthanded with key absences on offense, including both star receivers, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle (in limited capacity).

QB Tua Tagovailoa called the session “very frustrating.” He said on Wednesday:

“For a grade, I wouldn’t give myself a grade,” Tagovailoa said. “I don’t think that’s fair to grade yourself. … My assessment — I still wouldn’t give myself a grade. I think that’s for you guys to do with however you guys report that and whatnot. I think today offensively was a very frustrating day in regards to what we wanted to do, what we said we wanted to do. Came out and we just weren’t able to get things jumpstarted, so that was very frustrating today.”

    Meanwhile, coach Mike McDaniel said:

“I would like to see growth in our team, based on having one joint and one game, on how we improve our football within a practice. There can be a lot of focus on going against another team, and there can be a lot of focus on whatever’s happened.”

Mike McDaniel said they need to keep improving and is hoping the Dolphins learned a lot more about themselves after the joint practice.
